About
Klingon (tlhIngan Hol) was created by linguist Marc Okrand in 1984 for the Star Trek franchise. It features a deliberately alien phonology with sounds uncommon in natural languages, an Object-Verb-Subject word order, and a rich vocabulary of over 3,000 words. The Klingon Language Institute maintains and expands the language, and it has been used in opera, Shakespeare translations, and even a Duolingo course.
