Sindarin is the flowing Elvish language of Middle-earth created by Tolkien, inspired by Welsh phonology.

Over

Sindarin is one of the Elvish languages created by J.R.R. Tolkien for his Middle-earth legendarium. Evolving from his earlier 'Gnomish' and 'Noldorin' languages (begun around 1917), Sindarin took its final form around 1944. Inspired primarily by Welsh, it features consonant mutations, a complex system of plurals, and a flowing, melodic sound. It is the everyday language of the Grey Elves and is spoken extensively in The Lord of the Rings.
