Láadan

Fra lingoXpress, den åpne språkreferansen.

Láadan is a feminist language created to test the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis, designed to express women's perceptions.

Om

Láadan was created by linguist and science fiction author Suzette Haden Elgin for her novel Native Tongue (1984). It was designed as a thought experiment to test the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis — specifically, whether a language designed to express the perceptions of women would change how speakers think. Láadan features grammatical markers for the speaker's evidence and emotional state, vocabulary for concepts that English lacks (particularly relating to women's experiences), and a tonal system. It remains one of the most well-known feminist constructed languages.
