High Valyrian is the ancient, prestigious language of the Valyrian Freehold from Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon.

High Valyrian was created by David J. Peterson for HBO's Game of Thrones and later expanded for House of the Dragon. Inspired by Latin in its role as a prestige language, High Valyrian features four grammatical genders (lunar, solar, terrestrial, aquatic), a complex noun declension system, and verb conjugations. The language gained popularity through its Duolingo course and is one of the most studied fictional languages today.
