Examples

  1. Ráno piju kávu.

  3. Zítra ráno odjíždím v sedm.

Synonyms

  • jitro
  • dopoledne
Ráno is used both as a noun and an adverb to indicate the morning time. It appears in greetings (Dobré ráno = Good morning) and before verbs to mark when something happens (Ráno vstávám v sedm = I get up at seven in the morning). It usually refers to the period up to around noon; dopoledne is more specifically 'before noon' and jitro is a more poetic synonym. Pronounce with stress on the first syllable: RA-no.
