Examples

  1. Mi aĉetas panon por la tagmanĝo.
    (I buy bread for lunch.)
  2. Ĉu vi volas aĉeti tiun jakon?
    (Do you want to buy that jacket?)
  3. Ni aĉetis novan biciklon hodiaŭ.
    (We bought a new bicycle today.)

Synonyms

  • mendi
  • akiri
Use aĉeti when talking about purchasing goods or services. It's a transitive verb (takes a direct object: aĉeti ion). Common forms: mi aĉetas (I buy), li/ŝi aĉetis (he/she bought), ni aĉetos (we will buy). For ordering something in advance you can use mendi; akiri is broader and means to obtain (not necessarily by purchase).
