Θέλω is the everyday verb for expressing wants and desires. Use it for direct statements (Θέλω αυτό = I want this) or with a clause (Θέλω να πάω = I want to go). To sound more polite when requesting, Greeks often use the softer phrase θα ήθελα (I would like). The negative form is δεν θέλω (I don't want).
