Borða is the everyday verb for eating in Icelandic. It is used with the food item as the direct object (accusative). The letter ð is pronounced like the 'th' in 'this'. For meals you may also hear snæða; innbyrða is more formal, and éta can be colloquial or emphatic. Common phrases: borða morgunmat, borða hádegismat, borða kvöldmat.
