Use 麻烦 to describe something that causes inconvenience or extra work, or to politely ask someone to do something by saying 麻烦你... It can be an adjective (this is troublesome) or a verb (to bother someone). For polite requests, 麻烦你 softens the tone. To tell someone not to bother, you can say 别麻烦了.
