Meaning: to like; to enjoy
Examples
- Eu gosto de frutas no café da manhã.
(I like fruit for breakfast.) - Você gosta deste livro?
(Do you like this book?) - Ela não gosta de filmes de terror.

Synonyms
- apreciar
- curtir
Use 'gostar' to express liking. It normally appears with the preposition 'de' before a noun or an infinitive verb (gostar de algo / gostar de fazer algo). Conjugate it to match the subject (eu gosto, você gosta, ele gosta). To negate, put 'não' before the verb (não gosto). 'Curtir' is more informal and 'apreciar' is a bit more formal.
