Synonyms

  • izvolite
  • prosimo
Prosim is a very common polite word in Slovenian. Use it to say 'please' when asking for something, to hand something to someone ('here you go'), or to reply 'you're welcome' after someone says 'hvala'. With a questioning intonation ("Prosim?") it means 'pardon?' or 'could you repeat that?'. It works in both formal and informal contexts; 'izvolite' is a slightly more formal alternative when offering something.
