Làm is extremely versatile and one of the most common Vietnamese verbs. Use it for general actions (to do), for creating or making something (to make), and in many compound phrases (e.g., làm việc = to work, làm ơn = please/do a favor). It can also combine with objects or adjectives to mean 'cause to be' (e.g., làm cho).
