Antonyms

  • gorffen
Dechrau is the common verb for beginning events, actions or processes (e.g. dechrau gwaith, dechrau chwarae, dechrau astudio). It appears with verbal nouns (dechrau dysgu) and in imperatives (Dechreuwch!). Cychwyn and ymgychwyn are close synonyms; gorffen is the usual opposite (to finish).
