On Reformationstag, Protestant churches hold festive services, and in Wittenberg, where Martin Luther posted his theses, the town celebrates with a market and concerts. Bakeries in Saxony sell Reformationsbrötchen, a sweet bun with jam. Since the same evening is Halloween, children go trick-or-treating, calling 'Süßes oder Saures' ('sweets or sours'), carved pumpkins glow in windows, and adults go to costume parties.
