추석 (Chuseok)

Chuseok, also known as Hangawi, is a major harvest festival and a three-day holiday in Korea, celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar. This typically falls in September or October in the Gregorian calendar. It is a time for families to gather, give thanks for the harvest, and honor their ancestors. The festival is deeply rooted in Korean culture and traditions, with various rituals and customs observed throughout the day.
One of the most important rituals during Chuseok is the ancestral rite called Charye, where family members prepare and offer food to their ancestors. This is usually done in the morning, followed by a family gathering where they share a meal together. Another significant tradition is Seongmyo, where families visit ancestral graves to clean them and offer food and prayers. This is a time for reflection and remembrance of one's roots and heritage.
