what Ajunul Crăciunului & Crăciun is

Ajunul Crăciunului, or Christmas Eve, is celebrated on December 24th in Romania. The day is marked by a unique tradition called 'Colindatul,' where groups of children, often dressed in traditional costumes, go from door to door singing traditional Romanian Christmas carols, known as colinde. These carols are often accompanied by small hand-held drums or other simple instruments. In return for their performances, the children receive small gifts, sweets, or money. This tradition is believed to bring good luck and prosperity to the households that participate.

Christmas Day, or Crăciun, is celebrated on December 25th. It is a day of feasting and family gatherings. The main dish served is sarmale, which are cabbage rolls stuffed with a mixture of minced meat, rice, and spices. Another traditional dish is cozonac, a sweet bread often filled with Turkish delight, walnuts, or poppy seeds. The day begins with a special church service, and families gather to exchange gifts and enjoy the festive meal together. The atmosphere is filled with joy, warmth, and the spirit of togetherness.
