Kotava

From lingoXpress, the open language reference.

Kotava is a culturally neutral auxiliary language with entirely a priori vocabulary, avoiding bias toward any language family.

Description

Kotava was created in 1978 by Staren Fetcey (a pseudonym). Unlike most auxiliary languages that borrow from European languages, Kotava uses an entirely a priori vocabulary — every word is invented from scratch, avoiding cultural bias toward any language family. It features a regular agglutinative grammar, 17 consonants and 5 vowels, and a comprehensive system of verbal aspects. Kotava has a dedicated community, published literature, and a complete dictionary of over 17,000 roots. Its philosophy emphasizes true linguistic neutrality.
